About the Role:
Lyell McEwin Hospital is one of South Australia's busiest and most rapidly growing metropolitan health services, and its Gastroenterology team is at the centre of that growth. If you're building your specialist career and want a registrar year with genuine procedural exposure, strong consultant supervision, and a community that genuinely needs your skills, this 2027 contract role within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is worth your full attention. The position is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis concluding 31 January 2028.
What You'll Be Doing- Providing inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care across the Lyell McEwin Hospital catchment, including assessment, management, and discharge planning for a diverse northern Adelaide patient population
- Participating in endoscopy lists under consultant supervision, developing procedural competency in line with your stage of training
- Contributing to after-hours on-call coverage as rostered within the NALHN medical workforce model
- Engaging in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement activities aligned with SA Health clinical governance standards
- MBBS or equivalent, with full registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Eligibility to work within SA Health's medical workforce framework as a Registrar
- Demonstrated experience in general medicine or gastroenterology at a post-graduate level
- Sound clinical reasoning and the ability to manage complex, undifferentiated presentations with appropriate senior support
- A commitment to culturally safe care reflective of the diverse communities served by NALHN
- Clear, constructive communication with patients, families, and the broader multidisciplinary team
To be eligible for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.

Lyell McEwin Hospital - the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital - a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services - adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services - provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
