Achieve Something Great
The Carers Program Officer role provides an opportunity to implement meaningful, system wide change by strengthening how carers are recognised, supported and included across South Western Sydney Local Health District. The Carers Program Officer position works closely with the Carers Program Coordinator to implement key strategies such as NSW Health's Carers Key Directions to ensure carers are valued as partners in care and that staff are equipped to support them effectively. This role is integral to building a more inclusive, person centred health system that acknowledges the contribution of carers and embeds carer inclusive practice into everyday service delivery.

Are You the Right Fit?

They demonstrate strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with carers, consumers, staff and community stakeholders. They can assist with the planning, coordination and evaluation of projects, events and health promotion activities, while effectively managing competing priorities, working both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate demonstrates adaptability, initiative and sound judgement, and can effectively support and deliver initiatives that raise awareness of carers' needs and experiences. They contribute to activities and projects aligned with the Carers (Recognition) Act 2010 and NSW Health's Carers Key Directions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, and experience in website content management, community engagement or event coordination would be highly regarded. The successful candidate will demonstrate empathy, a collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous learning.
