About the role

We are looking forSuperintendent Maintenance HEQ to play a critical role in supporting a team to maintain Northern Operations Heavy Equipment fleet to meet our safety, production and operational efficiency targets whilst delivering continuous improvement. This role is responsible for leading the execution of maintenance plans and asset management strategies to maximise equipment availability, reliability and operational performance. Working closely with operational, technical and planning teams, you will ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with business objectives.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to theManager Northern Operationsand working in a rewarding and exciting environment, you will be:

  • Leading and developing a team of Maintenance Supervisors and asset management professionals

  • Overseeing the planning, organisation and execution of maintenance activities across the operation

  • Driving safe work practices, training, compliance and workforce capability development

  • Optimising the utilisation of labour, equipment and resources through effective maintenance planning

  • Developing and managing maintenance budgets and operating plans to deliver value and cost efficiency

  • Improving equipment reliability and asset performance through effective asset management practices

  • Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve operational and business objectives

  • Identifying workforce requirements and leading recruitment, succession planning and capability development

  • Coach and develop your crew leaders and step-up crew leaders to continuously improve

  • Provide peer support to achieve the broader Weipa Portfolio objectives

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within maintenance, asset management or heavy industrial environments

  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, reliability and asset lifecycle management

  • Experience managing budgets, operational plans and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining fixed plant assets

  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills

  • A commitment to safety, inclusion and operational excellence

  • Relevant trade, technical or engineering qualifications preferred

  • A manual 'C' class driver's licence

Where you will be working

Our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities,shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.

Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape, and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located on traditional land. We work closely with the Traditional Owners toimplement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
