About the Role This role is based within a specialist family and domestic violence refuge that provides crisis accommodation and support to women and children escaping family and domestic violence. As a Support Worker, you will provide practical, person-centred and trauma-informed support to women and children accessing the service. Working alongside the Team Lead and Support Coordinator, you will assist residents to achieve their goals, access community resources, attend appointments, develop daily living skills and strengthen their pathway towards safety, stability and independence. The role sits at the frontline of Ruah's service delivery and is integral to achieving positive outcomes for families during a critical period in their lives. This is a full-time 12-month maximum term contract opportunity working 38 hours per week across 5 days. You'll work a rotating roster of day shifts, including 8:00am to 4:00pm, 9:00am to 5:00pm and 10:00am to 6:00pm, ensuring women and children receive consistent, high-quality support throughout their stay. How You'll Make an Impact In this role, you will: Provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to women and children accessing crisis accommodation. Build positive relationships that promote safety, wellbeing and independence. Support residents to achieve their goals through practical assistance and recovery-focused interventions. Assist clients to attend appointments and connect with relevant community services and supports. Deliver daily living and activity-based supports that strengthen confidence and self-management skills. Maintain accurate client records, case notes and service documentation. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for families. Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for residents and colleagues. Follow organisational policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements. Participate in supervision, team meetings and continuous improvement activities. What We're Looking For The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: Completion of, or progress towards, a relevant Certificate II or III qualification, relevant work experience and/or lived experience. Ability to build positive and professional relationships with clients who have diverse and complex needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment. Resilience, emotional maturity and the ability to model positive behaviours. Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and client management systems. Knowledge and understanding of diversity, inclusion and cultural safety, particularly Aboriginal culture. Commitment to working within and contributing to Ruah's vision, mission and values. Desirable Experience working in family and domestic violence services. Experience within community services, homelessness, housing or mental health programs. Understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and strengths-based practice. Experience supporting women and children experiencing crisis or significant life challenges. What Do We Offer? A salary aligned with Level 2 of the SCHADS Award starting at $71,800 + Super. 5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% annual leave loading. 16 weeks paid parental leave, with flexibility to access 32 weeks at half pay.
