Geospatial Systems & Software Specialist Engineer | Defence | PV/TS-PA

Canberra ACT | Full Time | Long-Term Defence Engagement

Australian citizenship and a current Positive Vetting (PV) or Top Secret Privileged Access (TS-PA) security clearance are mandatory.

Pinaka Technology Solutions is seeking an experienced Geospatial Systems & Software Specialist Engineer for a long-term Defence Intelligence engagement in Canberra.

The opportunity is being delivered via a Defence Prime and will support the Geospatial Collection Systems function within Defence Intelligence Group.

This role will work across systems engineering, software engineering, geospatial capability development, integration and future technology assessment in support of Defence, the Australian Defence Force and National Intelligence Community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review and assess geospatial system architectures, software concepts and technical roadmaps
  • Develop and assess capability integration approaches
  • Evaluate technical feasibility, architectural options and implementation approaches
  • Identify technical and operational risks associated with new capabilities and system enhancements
  • Define interoperability requirements across Defence, intelligence and Whole-of-Government environments
  • Assess opportunities and implementation considerations associated with emerging technologies
  • Contribute to activities involving space capabilities, artificial intelligence, automation and advanced data exploitation
  • Provide systems engineering and software engineering advice
  • Prepare technical assessments, reports, briefs and discussion papers
  • Engage with technical specialists, operational stakeholders and senior Defence representatives

About You

We are looking for an engineer with strong systems, software and geospatial capability experience who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant engineering qualifications and/or professional membership
  • Experience delivering projects within Defence
  • Experience in systems engineering, software engineering or complex technology integration
  • Experience with geospatial systems or related intelligence capabilities
  • Knowledge of Defence Capability System processes
  • Understanding of the Australian National Intelligence Community
  • Awareness of the domestic and international geospatial and intelligence landscape
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies including space systems, artificial intelligence, automation and advanced data capabilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen
  • Currently hold a PV or TS-PA security clearance
  • Be based in the ACT region
  • Be available to work onsite at Brindabella Business Park, Majura, five days per week, unless otherwise approved by Defence
  • Successfully undertake a Defence Intelligence Suitability Assessment (DISA)
  • Complete required confidentiality and Defence Intelligence Group training requirements

Limited work-from-home arrangements may be considered by Defence, however fully remote work outside the ACT region is not available.

Extension Options: Up to 2 12 months

Security: Current PV or TS-PA mandatory
