As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong Python, SQL, Databricks and dbt experience to join the team.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer, you’ll work across modern data and software engineering environments, designing and building scalable solutions using Python, SQL, Databricks and dbt. You’ll work closely with engineers, architects and client stakeholders to develop reliable applications and data-driven solutions, improve engineering practices and support the delivery of modern cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable solutions using Python and SQL.
- Build and optimise data processing workloads within Databricks.
- Develop transformation and data modelling workflows using dbt.
- Write clean, reusable and well-tested production-quality code.
- Design and optimise complex SQL queries and data models.
- Build automated workflows and support modern CI/CD practices.
- Troubleshoot performance, reliability and integration issues across applications and data platforms.
- Apply software engineering principles including testing, version control and code reviews.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, analysts and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to technical design decisions and continuous improvement across engineering practices.
Key Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience across software engineering, data engineering or similar technical roles.
- Strong commercial experience with Python.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, optimisation and data manipulation.
- Hands-on experience working with Databricks in production environments.
- Strong experience with dbt, including data transformation, modelling and testing.
- Good understanding of data structures, data modelling and modern data architectures.
- Experience working with Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
- Exposure to cloud environments such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Experience working within Agile engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work across complex technical environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with Databricks Lakehouse architecture.
- Knowledge of Delta Lake and PySpark.
- Experience building APIs or backend services using Python.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and containerisation technologies.
- Previous consulting or client-facing experience.
