A little about the role

As part of the Transactional Services team, the Accounts Payable Officer will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of corporate supplier invoices, supplier statement reconciliations and weekly payment runs for the Capricorn Group. The role will also provide support to the Banking Officer with bank receipting and bank reconciliations as required.

What you'll bring

We're looking for an experienced accounts payable professional who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, continuous improvement mindset.

Demonstrated accounts payable experience processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately, including coding, approvals, invoice matching and payment preparation.

Strong reconciliation capability, with proven experience reconciling supplier statements, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items promptly.

High attention to detail and data accuracy, with the ability to identify errors, gaps or duplicate payments before they impact suppliers or internal reporting.

Confidence working with finance systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, to manage invoice workflows, reporting and supplier queries efficiently.

Clear communication and stakeholder service, including the ability to work professionally with suppliers, internal approvers and finance colleagues to resolve queries and keep payment processes moving.

Experience using an ERP, accounts payable automation or invoice scanning system. Experience with Epicor is desirable but not necessarily.

Good understanding of basic accounting principles, payment controls and compliance requirements relevant to supplier payments. Knowledge of Australian GST, ABN and supplier compliance requirements.

Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines, weekly payment runs and ad hoc support requirements.

A proactive, continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to suggest practical ways to streamline processes and improve accuracy.

Exposure to bank reconciliations, receipting or broader transactional finance support.

Qualifications

Completion of Year 12 or equivalent, with strong literacy, numeracy and administrative capability.

Strong experience in accounts payable, transactional finance, bookkeeping or a similar finance administration role.
