The Temple Department is seeking to appoint a Clerical Leader based in the Sydney Temple office. We are seeking an organized, proactive, patron-focused leader who feels that they are willing and able to serve in a temple environment. This permanent full-time role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to all who come to the House of the Lord.

The successful applicant will report to the Temple Recorder and play a key role in supporting patrons, and the Temple Presidency coordinating administrative functions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the temple office.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • An attitude of serving with kindness and reverence.

  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • And have a minimum of two years of office management experience along with two years of temple computer systems, Family History, or related fields, or equivalent education experience.

  • Supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and support staff to maintain high standards of accuracy and embrace new processes.

  • Attention to detail when processing bookings, payments, and confidential records.

  • Sound judgement and problem-solving ability when handling enquiries and resolving issues.

  • Integrity, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • The ability to prioritize competing tasks and remain calm in a sometimes-busy temple office.

The applicant must have the following:

  • Proof of legal right to work in Australia.

  • A police background check may be required.

As the Clerical Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist patrons preparing to receive sacred ordinances.

  • Support patrons and priesthood leaders by helping resolve complex enquiries in a courteous, confidential manner.

  • Assist patrons with temple housing bookings and payments.

  • Manage and ensure timely payments to approved vendors.

  • Maintain and regularly update temple worker databases, ensuring information is accurate.

  • Monitor inventories to ensure adequate office and operation supplies.
