What you'll be doing
Provide clinical nursing leadership, ensuring advanced assessment, person centred management planning and investigation including physical assessments, diagnostic reasoning and referrals, together with therapeutic interventions, including psychopharmacological interventions, for people substance use disorders within the NP scope of practice.
To manage care across a variety of health systems to maximize outcomes - engaging in complex and critical thinking;
integrating information and/or evidence; judiciously use clinical investigations; skilfully and empathetically communicating with all involved in the care episode, including the person receiving care and their family and community, and health professional colleagues.
To engage in practice as guided by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Nurse Practitioner Standards Framework.
About You
You are a dedicated Registered Nurse with current registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, with specialised experience in supporting individuals affected by substance use disorders. You have a strong understanding of the assessment and management of alcohol and other drug-related conditions, including withdrawal management and contemporary opioid substitution treatment programs, and are committed to delivering safe, evidence-based care that supports recovery and improved health outcomes.
You bring excellent clinical assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills, enabling you to effectively manage complex presentations and respond to the diverse needs of clients in both clinical and community settings. Your understanding of caring for individuals with complex health and social needs allows you to provide holistic, person-centred care that promotes engagement, wellbeing and continuity of treatment.
A strong communicator, you build positive therapeutic relationships with clients, families and healthcare professionals through effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication, supported by proficiency in clinical information systems and technology. You work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate and deliver outcome-focused care, ensuring services are tailored to individual needs and aligned with best practice. With a current NSW driver's licence and a willingness to travel, you are committed to providing accessible and responsive care across a range of community and healthcare settings.
