Northern Beaches Hospital invite applications from Security Officers to join our team. As the Security Officer, you will play an integral part in delivering exceptional service to our patients, staff and visitors. You will act as practical support to the Security Manager providing a 24/7 service to provide protection and safety within hospital grounds.

Where you'll be working
Northern Beaches Hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, a state-of-the-art theatre complex, world-class education centre, and excellent staff facilities including cafe and secure on site car parking.

What you'll be doing
As a security officer, you will be an active member of the team working to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by patrolling hospital grounds, car park, monitoring security systems, controlling access to restricted areas, responding to emergencies, managing aggressive or disruptive behaviour, investigating incidents, and assisting with evacuations or emergency procedures when required. You will also work closely with clinical staff, emergency services, and visitors to ensure hospital policies are followed and that everyone on site feels safe and supported.

Identify and report defects, safety hazards or damage to buildings, grounds and equipment and report to the appropriate authority such as Engineering manager, Security Manager or Supervisor. Conduct internal and external patrols of the site as required.
Provide assistance with cash, drug and staff escorts as required.

Operate security equipment such as CCTV, Intruder and Duress alarms and Access Control systems including Security Identification cards.

Exercising duties in accordance with Security legislation in regard to providing Security or the apprehension of absconding patients, participating in restraint whilst doing so under instruction from Clinical professionals.

Comply with authorised written and verbal instructions, policy and procedures, Values and Behavioural Charters and the NSW Health Code of Conduct and other security related duties as directed by the Security Supervisor, Security Manager and Corporate Service Managers.

Participate in training as required by NSW Health and ensure required competencies are current.

Be a member of the Internal Response Team and respond to emergency codes within the hospital.

Maintain parking and smoking control and issue infringements as required.
  1. Must hold current NSW Security Licence Class 1A, NSW Drivers Licence Class 'C' and a valid Senior First Aid certificate.
  2. Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work as a member of a team in an often stressful environment with the willingness and ability to follow direction from team leaders in both clinical and administrative roles.
  3. Experience in responding to changing and challenging situations.
