We are seeking a motivated Principal Water & Wastewater Planning Engineer / Team Leader to join our highperforming Water Division in Brisbane. Our projects are varied and diverse and span the lifecycle of project delivery from planning through to feasibility studies and the detailed design of packages for construction.
About the role:
Our Water Group is growing, and we have some terrific opportunities for a talented Principal Water and Wastewater Engineer / Team Leader who is experienced in delivering water and wastewater infrastructure solutions. In this position your experience in network planning and hydraulic modelling of water supply and wastewater networks will be leveraged in leading and delivering complex and exciting strategic and detailed planning projects. As a Principal Water and Wastewater Engineer you will work closely with our client base to address their water and wastewater infrastructure planning challenges. Further you will support the development and the upskilling of the developing engineers in our water planning team.
You may also be considered for a team leader role with in our planning and advisory team reporting to our group leader. As a team leader you will support a team of resources in their development and career progression and assist the group leader in team resourcing, business development and team management.
In this role you will help Stantec deliver program and project excellence for our water business clients in both metropolitan, regional, and remote contexts. We have a healthy workload focused on water supply and sewerage schemes with key water authorities in Queensland. You will join a dynamic and skilled team that works on water and wastewater infrastructure projects, not only locally, but across the APAC region.
As a Principal Water and Wastewater Engineer / Team Leader in our Water business, you will provide professional engineering skills and leadership for water and wastewater infrastructure projects through the following:
Leading the delivery of strategic planning, master planning and detailed planning water supply and sewerage projects.
Providing technical leadership across water and wastewater planning and feasibility projects.
Involvement in operational intervention planning (resupply plans, shut plans, flow control plans, critical asset and network risk assessments).
Working closely with clients in project scoping and delivery.
Producing highquality technical reports, presentations and stakeholder communication materials.
Contributing to business cases, and operational improvement initiatives.
Supporting business development through proposal leadership and client engagement.
Sharing technical excellence across Stantec's Australia-New Zealand water planning communities.
Mentoring and developing team members through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
Promoting Stantec's brand through strong client relationships and industry participation.
Support the team in development and expansion of the Company's capability in the fields of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including obtaining new clients and/or new work from existing clients.
Support the development of other team members through technical advice and guidance.
As a team leader you will:
Support the group leader in management of the planning group
Facilitate career development, goal setting and training of your team members.
Be active in project resource management.
Set and enhance team culture.
What makes you a standout candidate for this role:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent).
8-15 years' experience in water industry consulting, planning or engineering, with experience in the use of hydraulic models. Ideally, across both metropolitan and regional contexts.
Hydraulic modelling experience with packages such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoWorks WS, Water GEMS/CAD, Sewer GEMS/CAD.
Operational planning capability including developing operational intervention plans, contingency plans, shut plans, flow control plans and network risk assessments is beneficial.
GIS proficiency with platforms such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap or QGIS.
Stakeholder engagement experience working with water authorities, government bodies and commercial clients.
Strong communication skills including presentation development and clear technical writing.
Leadership capability to guide multidisciplinary teams and deliver highquality project outcomes.
