HSE Manager - Major Renewable Project - QLD

FIFO/DIDO

Lead Safety on a Major Renewable Energy Project

Join UGL at the forefront of Australia's energy transition. Having delivered 13 solar farms and 14 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the country, we're continuing to grow our renewable energy portfolio and creating long-term career opportunities for our people.

We're looking for an experienced HSE Manager to join a major utility-scale BESS project in regional Queensland. You'll be a key member of the leadership team, helping shape the culture from day one, supporting frontline crews and leaders, and making sure safety remains at the centre of everything we do.

This isn't just a project role. It's a permanent opportunity with future pathways across UGL's growing portfolio of battery, wind, solar and power projects nationwide.

Why this role

  • Lead safety on a major renewable energy project that will help support Australia's energy future.

  • Join a project team that genuinely values safety and visible leadership.

  • Be trusted to influence culture, coach leaders and make a real impact on site.

  • Permanent role backed by UGL's strong pipeline of renewable energy projects across Australia.

  • Work for a Tier 1 contractor with a strong track record delivering complex energy infrastructure.

  • Play a key role from project mobilisation through to completion.

About the role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll be responsible for leading safety across the project and supporting the team to deliver the work safely and successfully.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who prefers being out in the field, building relationships and working alongside supervisors, contractors and crews. You'll provide guidance, challenge where needed and help create an environment where people take ownership of safety and look out for one another.

You'll also work closely with project leaders to manage risk, support investigations, drive continuous improvement and ensure the project meets client, company and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead safety performance across the project and provide direction and support to the HSE team.

  • Build strong relationships with supervisors, contractors and the workforce to drive a positive safety culture.

  • Coach and influence leaders to manage risk and improve safety performance.

  • Lead investigations, audits and improvement initiatives across the project.

  • Ensure project activities are carried out in line with legislative, client and UGL requirements.

What we offer

  • Access to our OneRewards Discount Program.

  • Discounted Medibank health insurance.

  • Participate in our Wellness Program with AIA Vitality.

  • 16 weeks paid primary parental leave.

  • Complimentary salary continuance insurance.

  • Development opportunities supported by Individual Development Plans.

  • The opportunity to contribute to some of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure projects.

About you

  • Experience leading safety on large construction, infrastructure, renewable energy or major projects.

  • A practical and visible leadership style, with a passion for supporting people in the field.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to positively influence people at all levels.

  • Experience managing risk, leading investigations and driving continuous improvement.

  • Relevant workplace health and safety qualifications.

  • Comfortable working in a site-based FIFO/DIDO environment.
