Nestled within the grounds of the Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital in Katoomba, the 15 bed Blue Mountains Mental Health Unit (BMMHU) offers compassionate, trauma informed, and recovery focused psychiatric care. The team delivers flexible and innovative models of support designed to meet the complex needs of adults living with mental illness, helping prevent relapse, strengthen independence, and enhance community participation. With a strong commitment to collaboration, the BMMHU works closely with individuals, their families, and carers to create a safe, empowering environment where recovery can truly take shape.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the timely escalation of care, delivering evidence-based mental health nursing practice, and contributing to the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of consumer care. Working collaboratively with a range of healthcare professionals, you will support positive consumer outcomes through recovery-oriented and person-centered care.

What you will bring to the role
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in nursing as a Registered Nurse including completion of a New Graduate Registered Nurse program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated capacity to provide effective Nursing care that is person centred, trauma-informed, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work.
- Demonstrated effective communication. Including non-verbal, written and verbal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to own professional development through workplace learning and reflective practice and the ability to contribute to the development of others, including new graduate nurses and students.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work a flexible roster, day evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit or team requirements.
