Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Nepean Cancer Care Centre. Job share will be considered.

Successful applicants will be Medical Oncology Staff Specialist

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

3. Sound clinical knowledge in Medical Oncology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.

4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.

5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.

6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

7. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.

Preferred criteria

8. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of upper gastrointestinal (including hepatocellular carcinoma), lower gastrointestinal, head and neck, and gynaecological cancers.

9. Has obtained or working towards a higher research degree (e.g. PhD).

10. Prior experience working in the role of a staff specialist in medical oncology.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award

Employees and Contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
