What you'll do:

We're seeking a Senior Materials Handling Engineer to join our Newcastle Mining team. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in bulk materials handling and a passion for delivering practical, fit-for-purpose solutions across the mining industry.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to the delivery of studies, design packages and project execution activities for clients across coal, metals and minerals projects throughout Australia.

  • Lead the design and delivery of bulk materials handling systems for mining projects

  • Develop engineering solutions for conveyors, transfer stations, crushers, feeders, bins, chutes and associated equipment

  • Prepare design calculations, specifications, technical reports and engineering documentation

  • Support project delivery across study, concept, detailed design and execution phases

  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, process and civil engineering teams

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to developing engineers

  • Engage directly with clients, vendors and project stakeholders

  • Participate in site visits, inspections and commissioning support when required

About you:

You are a collaborative and technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and building strong client relationships. You'll ideally bring:

  • Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering

  • 8+ years' experience in mining, minerals processing, bulk materials handling or heavy industry

  • Strong experience with bulk materials handling systems and equipment

  • Knowledge of conveyor systems, transfer chutes, feeders, crushers, bins and stockpile handling infrastructure

  • Experience delivering sustaining capital, brownfield or operational improvement projects

  • Strong understanding of Australian and industry engineering standards

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Chartered status or progression towards chartership will be highly regarded
