JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Manager supports the Director of Finance in managing all financial and accounting operations of Emirates Wolgan Valley, A Ritz-Carlton Lodge. The role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, compliance, audit coordination, and business analysis. The Finance Manager partners with operational department leaders to drive financial performance, improve profitability, ensure asset protection, and maintain compliance with Marriott International policies, procedures, and applicable statutory requirements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or related discipline.

Minimum 3-4 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

Hospitality, hotel, resort, or luxury property experience preferred.

Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and audit requirements.

Experience with hospitality finance systems preferred.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Supporting Strategic Planning and Decision Making

Assists the Director of Finance in developing and executing the property's financial strategy and business plans.

Supports the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.

Analyzes financial and operational performance and recommends actions to improve profitability and efficiency.

Assists in evaluating business opportunities, investments, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue enhancement programs.

Monitors key performance indicators and market trends to support informed decision-making.

Produces accurate forecasts that enable operations to respond effectively to business changes.

Managing Day-to-Day Finance Operations

Oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll, Income Audit, and General Cashier functions.

Ensures timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.

Reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Maintains effective controls over cash management, banking, and working capital.

Ensures accounting records are maintained in accordance with Marriott policies and applicable accounting standards.

Supports the implementation and maintenance of processes that safeguard company assets.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

Prepares timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and business analyses.

Performs variance analysis and provides meaningful commentary on operating results.

Monitors revenue, labor costs, and departmental expenses against budget and forecast.

Identifies financial trends, risks, and opportunities and recommends corrective actions where required.

Supports departmental leaders by providing financial insights to improve operational performance.

Assists in the preparation of owner, corporate, and management reporting requirements.

Compliance, Audit and Internal Controls

Ensures compliance with Marriott International policies, brand standards, and local statutory requirements.

Coordinates internal, external, owner, and regulatory audits.

Reviews audit findings and supports corrective action plans.

Ensures compliance with taxation, payroll, and regulatory reporting obligations.

Maintains strong internal controls and risk management processes.

Reviews balance sheet reconciliations to ensure supporting documentation and accuracy.

Supports fraud prevention, asset protection, and ethical business practices.

Business Partnership

Partners with operational department leaders to enhance financial accountability and business performance.

Provides guidance on labor management, purchasing, inventory controls, and cost management initiatives.

Supports commercial and operational decision-making through financial analysis and recommendations.

Facilitates financial review meetings with department heads and leadership teams.

Communicates financial concepts clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

Leading and Developing the Finance Team

Supervises, coaches, and develops Finance associates.

Establishes clear goals, responsibilities, and performance expectations.

Conducts training, performance reviews, and development discussions.

Supports succession planning and talent development initiatives.

Ensures associates are cross-trained to support operational continuity.

Promotes a culture of integrity, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Managing Projects and Process Improvements

Supports finance-related projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.

Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.

Participates in automation, productivity, and cost optimization projects.

Ensures project deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and standards.

Additional Responsibilities

Acts on behalf of the Director of Finance when delegated.

Participates in Executive Committee and leadership meetings as required.

Supports owner relations and corporate reporting requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned to support property and business objectives.
