About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced DFR Team Lead Nurse Officer to join our Operations team, and the successful candidate can be based in Melbourne CBD, Adelaide CBD or Hobart. In this critical role, you will oversee and deliver preliminary medical assessments for Defence Force recruitment candidates, mentor and supervise Nurse Officers and Medical Screeners, and ensure all clinical processes adhere to our rigorous Clinical Governance Framework.
Working closely with clinical leadership and regional medical and psychology teams, you will drive continuous improvement and compliance across all facets of our Defence Force Recruiting medical services. This role will require the successful candidate to travel interstate once a month.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and provide clinical supervision to DFR Nurse Officers and Medical Screeners
Perform Entry Level Medical Examinations (ELME), Medical Attestation Examinations (MAE), and review Medical Health Questionnaires (MHQ)
Conduct telehealth consultations to clarify candidate information
Ensure compliance with clinical governance, security standards, and company policies
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop policies and improve service delivery
Oversee training, credentialing, and professional development for your team
Manage and investigate complaints and candidate queries in conjunction with clinical leadership
Maintain accurate and secure candidate records in electronic health systems
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
About You
You are a Senior Registered Nurse with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence in patient care and documentation.
Essential Criteria:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 3 years' broad clinical experience in a comparable health system
Experience in a leadership position
Confident using electronic medical records and ICT systems
Current Working with Children Check
Current CPR certification (HLTAD009)
Australian Citizenship (mandatory for AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance)
Desirable:
Experience working in a Defence or base setting
Background in pre-employment medicals or occupational health
