The Depot Trainee will undertake structured on-the-job learning and formal training to develop the skills, knowledge and experience required to work within Council's Infrastructure Department. The role provides exposure to a variety of activities including road maintenance, drainage works, parks and reserves maintenance, waste management and general depot operations. The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of Council services while working towards a recognised qualification - Certificate III in Civil Construction - RII30920 - and developing safe work practices. This is a valuable qualification, recognised in all parts of Australia, and could lead to a number of different career pathways. Operational Duties Assist with road maintenance and construction activities Assist with drainage maintenance and repairs Participate in parks, reserve and open space maintenance activities Undertake labouring duties as directed Assist with traffic management activities where appropriately trained Operate hand tools and small plant under supervision Assist with depot housekeeping and maintenance of equipment Support waste management and asset maintenance operations as required Undertake basic manual handling and physical tasks associated with outdoor work What would this involve? You would be employed by Work & Training for the duration of your training contract, & hosted to the Tasman Council. Full time hours. Full entitlements including four weeks of holidays per year. You would receive mentoring and support throughout the traineeship from a Work & Training Apprentice & Employment Consultant. Your workplace supervisors would provide daily coaching and opportunity for growth.
