Job Description
The Queensland Urban Transport team is growing! We're seeking a technically excellent Principal Engineer to join our team based on the Gold Coast who is interested in making their mark leading impactful projects locally within QLD and nationally! Our Queensland Urban Transport team is 50+ strong and responsible for some of the leading development projects in Southeast Queensland.
This role is ideal for a Chartered Engineer with strong leadership abilities and significant technical expertise in large-scale greenfield and brownfield developments, as well as commercial, industrial, and medium-density projects. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering landmark projects, mentoring our talented team, and driving innovation in urban transport.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional seeking future pathways into team or business management.
You'll be responsible for:
- Lead sector growth across local government, state government, and private client portfolios; provide end-to-end technical expertise from feasibility through to construction certification for complex road, pavement, cycleway, and DDA-compliant infrastructure
- Lead the growth of our civil engineering sector by building client relationships, identifying new project opportunities, and winning key bids.
- Lead project teams of engineers, providing technical advice and direction to all employee levels through technical challenges and issues
- Lead meetings with project stakeholders including clients, other Egis disciplines as well as external consultants
- Assist in reviewing technical deliverables such as technical reports, detail designs and construction quality assurance data etc. to ensure compliance to with relevant standards
- Manage work technically and contractually to ensure that it meets technical requirements and is performed within the bounds of the organisation's policies and procedures
- Undertake financial management of projects by monitoring the actual time and cost expended on the total project against the budget, informing client of any changes in scope of work or other causes of variances from project resources.
Qualifications
Ideally, you will have 10+ years' experience with demonstrated technical expertise with urban transport engineering. In addition, you will also have:
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- CPEng status (or close to obtaining)
- RPEQ or willingness to obtain
- Experience in successfully managing projects meeting Client objectives.
- Strong technical expertise in civil design with knowledge of relevant guidelines, Australian Standards, and Local Council Planning Schemes.
- Strong understanding of greenfield projects
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills for facilitating internal and external stakeholder engagements and business development opportunities.
