Senior Manager, Merchant Pricing Services
The Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team designs and delivers pricing strategies that support our growth objectives while optimising Discount Revenue-American Express' largest revenue stream. As Senior Manager - Pricing, you will combine commercial strategy, financial analysis and data-driven insights to shape pricing decisions across merchant portfolios. This role is suited to someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving complex business problems, and can independently identify opportunities, develop recommendations and influence senior stakeholders.

Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
- 5+ years' experience in pricing, commercial strategy, management consulting, corporate strategy, financial analysis or another highly analytical commercial role.
- Exceptional analytical and financial modelling capabilities with the ability to synthesise large, complex datasets into clear commercial insights and recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to think independently, solve ambiguous business problems and proactively identify opportunities.
- Naturally curious with a strong commercial mindset and a willingness to challenge existing approaches through evidence-based recommendations.
- Passion for leveraging new technologies, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, enhance analysis and accelerate insight generation.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Proven relationship management skills with the ability to build credibility and influence across a highly matrixed organisation.
- Strong project management skills with ownership from analysis through implementation. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality outcomes. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Experience in payments, pricing, or financial services is advantageous.
- Develop pricing strategies using quantitative analysis, commercial judgement and internal and external market insights to support merchant negotiations and strategic business initiatives.
- Independently identify commercial opportunities, challenge conventional thinking and generate actionable recommendations that improve portfolio performance and drive business growth.
- Build robust merchant business cases, including financial modelling, scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate commercial outcomes.
- Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights and recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Develop a deep understanding of portfolio performance through ongoing analysis of merchant trends, competitive dynamics, market benchmarks and future growth opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement in pricing methodologies, governance and analytical processes to improve consistency, efficiency and decision quality.
- Leverage modern analytics, automation and AI-enabled tools to streamline analysis, uncover new insights and enhance decision-making.
- Lead pricing initiatives from concept through implementation, ensuring strong project management, stakeholder engagement and measurable business outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships across regional and global teams to influence strategic decisions and deliver commercial results.
