Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Business Analyst leads complex, data-intensive initiatives across enterprise data management and Master Data Management (MDM), partnering with senior business and technology stakeholders to analyse data domains, business processes, data quality issues, integration requirements and information flows.
The role has a strong focus on developing UNSW's MDM capability and expanding the Universal Constituent Master (UCM) solution as an enterprise-level platform, with experience expected across MDM, data management, data quality, reference data, metadata, data governance, source-to-target analysis and complex data integration.
The position reports to the Lead Solution Architect - MDM and Data and has no direct reports. They will be assigned to the Lead Management + Master Data Management Program, working in close partnership with the Agile Program Manager and the Lead Solution Architect - MDM and Data.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead end-to-end business analysis for complex, enterprise-level initiatives from problem definition to solution delivery and review.
Define and document "as-is" and "to-be" processes, solution models, and data requirements across systems and business areas.
Translate business and data requirements into clear functional requirements, data rules, process models, source-to-target mappings and acceptance criteria, while identifying data dependencies, ownership, quality issues and impacts across source and consuming systems.
Partner with senior stakeholders to identify strategic needs and align business and technology outcomes with UNSW's objectives.
Define Master Data Management (MDM) requirements with business SMEs, customers, and implementation teams.
Develop business cases and feasibility studies to inform decisions and prioritisation.
Collaborate with architects, developers, data, and testing teams to ensure solutions meet business and technical needs.
Support testing activities, including System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Maintain a strong understanding of university systems, data models, and processes to provide enterprise-level insights.
Contribute to continuous improvement of business analysis standards and practices across UNSW.
Who you are:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Business Analyst in large, complex organisations, leading strategic or enterprise-scale initiatives.
Experience expected across MDM, data management, data quality, reference data, metadata, data governance, source-to-target analysis, and complex data integration.
Proven ability to work effectively within structured and agile delivery environments (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid).
Strong expertise in business analysis techniques, including process mapping, data analysis, requirements gathering, solution evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
Experience developing business cases, supporting procurement or vendor selection, and implementing enterprise platforms.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated experience managing data products across their full lifecycle, with strong product management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience collaborating with or guiding other analysts to ensure consistency and quality.
Knowledge of enterprise systems, CRM, ERP, or integration platforms is highly desirable.
