Share an Hour of Companionship, Community Pastoral Care Volunteer

HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their home.<\/b>
<\/p>

As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church, offering comfort, presence, and hope to those who need it most.<\/b>
<\/p>

At 100 years of age, this lovely lady continues to live at home and would value the company of a caring pastoral care volunteer. She would enjoy weekly visits filled with conversation, friendship, kindness and spiritual connection.<\/i><\/b>
<\/p>

A gentle presence, a listening ear and time spent together can bring comfort, companionship and meaning to her week.<\/i><\/b>
<\/p>

You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:<\/b>

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs

• Nurture spiritual development

  Skills required for this role:<\/i><\/b>
  <\/p>\n

  • High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
    <\/p><\/li>\n

  • Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training\- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

    \n Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
