Your Team
The Retirement team is part of CFS's Superannuation & Investments business unit, which encompasses Platforms and Investment Products, Superannuation, Investments, Risk & Operations, Retirement and Business Planning, and Product Delivery. The Retirement Modelling Specialist reports to Senior Manager, Retirement Strategy and works closely with retirement strategy, product, investment, data analytics, risk and external partner teams.
Your Responsibilities
Support the design and development of investment and retirement income solutions by applying quantitative modelling, analysis of member/product outcomes, and commercial analysis and judgement.
Contribute to the design, development and testing of investment and retirement income solutions by applying quantitative modelling to structure analysis and decision support.
Translate product requirements into quantitative model specifications, ensuring assumptions are clearly defined, testable and documented.
Develop, maintain and enhance modelling tools used to assess product features, pricing assumptions, member outcomes, portfolio exposures and risk characteristics.
Analyse model outputs to identify sensitivities, key risk drivers, performance characteristics and member-outcome implications across different economic environments.
Support scenario analysis, stress testing and projection work to understand how retirement solutions perform under different market and insurance risk conditions.
Work closely with investment, product, strategy, risk and external partner teams to communicate findings and support decision-making processes.
Support model validation, documentation and internal review processes, ensuring outputs are well-documented and suitable for governance use.
Assist in improving existing modelling frameworks, tools and methodologies to increase efficiency, accuracy, transparency and robustness.
Convert complex quantitative outputs into practical recommendations for senior stakeholders, business partners and governance forums.
Your Capability and Experience
Strong analytical capability, with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, interrogate assumptions and interpret model outputs.
Proven experience in actuarial analysis, investment and/or financial modelling, insurance pricing and valuation or related analytical roles.
Ability to translate product, commercial or customer requirements into structured assumptions, model specifications and analytical outputs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain quantitative concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
High attention to detail and sound judgement in balancing model sophistication, transparency, usability and governance needs.
Tertiary qualifications in actuarial science, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, quantitative finance, engineering or a related discipline is advantageous.
