This is an opportunity to contribute to innovative and sustainable infrastructure projects at the intersection of engineering and climate technology.
You will help translate advanced road and soil stabilization solutions into practical, buildable construction methodologies.
The role combines technical expertise, field experience and project advisory work across pilot and infrastructure initiatives.
You will help define testing programmes, quality standards and performance criteria while supporting real-world trials and evaluations.
You will also work with authorities and public-sector stakeholders to help ensure innovative solutions meet applicable road and infrastructure standards.
Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of more sustainable, cost-effective and resilient road construction approaches.
This role is particularly suited to an experienced civil or pavement engineering professional with strong knowledge of arid environments and alternative construction materials.

Accountabilities

  • Translate innovative road and soil stabilization technologies into practical engineering methodologies and buildable construction approaches.
  • Develop construction methodologies covering pavement and layer design, compaction, curing processes and implementation requirements.
  • Evaluate and benchmark non-traditional road construction and soil stabilization solutions against conventional approaches.
  • Define laboratory and field testing programmes to assess material performance, durability and suitability for intended applications.
  • Establish QA/QC procedures, testing protocols and performance acceptance criteria for pilot and implementation projects.
  • Support the planning and execution of pilot road sections, field trials and demonstration projects.
  • Monitor pilot construction activities and contribute to post-construction assessments, performance evaluations and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure proposed construction methodologies and materials comply with applicable road, pavement and infrastructure standards.
  • Liaise with road authorities, public-sector entities, contractors and other stakeholders to support technical approvals and project implementation.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, engineering guidelines, methodologies and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert technical advice on road construction, pavement engineering, soil stabilization and alternative construction materials.
  • Contribute engineering insights to the development and scaling of sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in road construction, pavement engineering and/or soil stabilization.
  • Strong practical knowledge of road construction methodologies, pavement systems, earthworks and material performance.
  • Demonstrated experience working with unpaved and low-volume roads, particularly in desert or arid soil conditions.
  • Strong understanding of alternative and non-traditional construction materials and their potential applications in road infrastructure.
  • Previous experience working with Saudi road authorities, government entities or EPC contractors.
  • Familiarity with Saudi road and infrastructure requirements, together with international standards such as AASHTO, ASTM, BS and EN.
  • Experience designing or managing laboratory and field testing programmes, QA/QC processes and performance acceptance criteria.
  • Proven experience supporting pilot projects, field trials, technical evaluations and authority approval processes.
  • Background in sustainable infrastructure, large public-sector developments or major infrastructure/giga-projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with authorities, contractors, engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to bridge innovative technologies and real-world construction requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with sound engineering judgment and attention to detail.

Benefits

  • Remote opportunity for a senior engineering professional based in Australia.
  • Opportunity to contribute to innovative climate-tech and sustainable infrastructure initiatives.
  • Direct involvement in pilot projects and the practical deployment of alternative road and soil stabilization solutions.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of civil engineering, construction innovation and carbon removal technology.
  • Exposure to major infrastructure initiatives and projects involving international standards and public-sector stakeholders.
  • High-impact role with the opportunity to influence the development of more sustainable and cost-effective road construction methodologies.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams combining scientific, engineering and commercial expertise.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the scaling of emerging technologies from pilot-stage applications toward real-world infrastructure deployment.
