Join our team at Ashton Gardens, nestled in the heart of East Maitland. Offering a safe, friendly and relaxed lifestyle in a convenient location, Ashton Gardens is home to a vibrant community of residents who value quality service and well-maintained surroundings.

As a Maintenance Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the village remains safe, attractive and operating smoothly. From coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance to supporting residents with day-to-day maintenance requests, you'll enjoy a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Working both independently and as part of a close-knit team, you'll help create an exceptional living experience for our residents.

This is a Part-time position, working One day per week from 9.30am to 4pm (6.5 hours) with no weekend work. The day and start/finish time are flexible.

Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include;

  • Coordinate and undertake general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance across the village.
  • Maintain village buildings, common areas, facilities and grounds to a high standard.
  • Respond to resident maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues before they become problems.
  • Support workplace health and safety compliance and report hazards as required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update work orders using computer-based systems.
  • Contribute to the presentation, safety and overall resident experience within the village.

You're a hands-on problem solver who enjoys delivering outstanding customer service and takes pride in maintaining safe, well-presented environments. You have a positive attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively while building great relationships with residents, contractors and colleagues.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, handyman or property maintenance role.
  • Strong practical skills and the ability to undertake a broad range of maintenance tasks.
  • A customer-focused approach and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid computer skills and confidence using digital systems.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
  • A proactive, reliable and team-oriented attitude.
  • A commitment to workplace health, safety and quality standards.

Relevant internal training and inductions will be provided to the successful candidate on-site.
