Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Our Geotechnical team partners with clients across a diverse range of sectors including local government, residential development, rail, education, commercial, industrial, and major infrastructure projects. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you'll provide technical leadership and geotechnical expertise across a variety of residential, transport, and infrastructure projects. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from geotechnical investigations and site characterisation through to detailed design and construction support.
The role is based in our Sydney (St Leonard's) office, with the option to also be based in Wollongong, Newcastle or Canberra. Day-to-day tasks would involve:
- Lead and coordinate geotechnical investigations, field programs, site testing, and data acquisition activities.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, and design documentation.
- Deliver geotechnical assessments and design solutions for various works such as foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, pipelines, and slope stability projects.
- Provide technical review and quality assurance to ensure deliverables meet industry and client standards.
- Lead and contribute to preparation of proposals.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to proposals, business development initiatives, and project pursuits.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers within the team.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with completion of geotechnical electives and/or major as part of your university studies.
- Approximately 5 years' experience within a consulting environment, or recognition as a Senior Engineer in your current role.
- Proficiency with geotechnical and engineering software such as OpenGround, GeoStudio, PLAXIS, Rocscience, CIRCLY, and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication, project management, and client relationship skills.
