Your opportunity Project Manager Structural Underground Construction M2P Engineering | Snowy Mountains Region, NSW We have secured the Tumut 1 (T1) machine hall roof replacement and stabilisation project with Snowy Hydro, and we are looking for a Project Manager to lead delivery onsite. You will lead a peak crew of around 45, running 24 hours a day across day and night shift, working alongside the Construction Manager and Senior Project Engineer. You'll provide clear direction, coordinate project resources and collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will oversee the project lifecycle from planning through to execution, ensuring the work is delivered safely, on time, within scope and to the required quality standards. This position is based in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales and offers FIFO/DIDO flexibility on a 2:1 roster (best suited for those with a home base of Brisbane or Sydney). You'll make an impact by: Leading all aspects of delivery for a complex structural and mechanical package, from fabrication and procurement, through mobilisation, to site installation. Providing clear leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary construction crew across day and night shift. Ensuring key milestones are achieved safely, on time, within scope and within budget. Identifying and managing structural construction risk in a confined, underground, high access environment. Coordinating fabrication, procurement, logistics and site resources across remote locations. Building strong working relationships with the client, delivery partners and your on-site leadership team. Developing practical solutions to overcome construction challenges as they arise. Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, communication and accountability throughout the project. What you'll bring To succeed in this role, you will have: Significant experience delivering industrial structural steel and mechanical construction projects, ideally within underground mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry. A background gained in a specialist contracting or fabrication environment. A proven ability to deliver safely, on time and within budget on complex, higher-risk packages. Strong planning and programming discipline, with hands-on experience in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for scheduling, task tracking and resource allocation, plus strong Microsoft Excel skills. Sound commercial acumen and a firm grip on construction risk. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the leadership presence to drive accountability across a large crew. Genuine experience working FIFO or DIDO, and a willingness to travel to site. Availability to work a 2:1 roster in the Snowy Mountains, and to be based on site when the project is mobilised. Ideally, you will also have: A mechanical engineering background (preferred, not essential). Direct underground construction experience, or time spent in confined, operational or high risk environments. A practical, solutions-focused approach to resolving complex construction challenges.
