Senior Consultant - Professional Services
The opportunity
As a Senior Consultant at Proxima, you will lead complex workstreams within our Professional Services category and manage senior stakeholders while delivering innovative solutions and mentoring junior consultants. You will be part of client-facing teams delivering high-impact commercial, sourcing, and supplier initiatives, supporting the development of insights, contributing to solution design, and playing an active role in delivering outcomes, not just recommendations.
This is not a passive learning role. At Proxima, we are practitioner-consultants. You will build experience quickly, take responsibility early, and work alongside clients to deliver real, measurable change.
What you'll do
Support delivery across client engagements
Lead strategic sourcing and category management engagements across Professional Services and External Labor, building trusted relationships with stakeholders across procurement, finance, legal, HR, and business leadership.
Develop category and sourcing strategies across a broad range of financial and non-financial services, including consulting, audit-related services, tax, advisory, legal, and contingent labor.
Assist with opportunity identification, supplier research, and commercial analysis.
Identify opportunities supporting client value and revenue growth.
Management and career development
Coach and develop junior consultants.
Contribute to Proxima category thought leadership and IP.
Commercial acumen and comfort with ambiguity.
Engage and collaborate with stakeholders
Work directly with senior client stakeholders to gather requirements and align objectives.
Lead complex commercial negotiations with Big 4 firms, consulting firms, legal providers, staffing suppliers, and other professional services providers, covering fee structures, rate cards, statements of work, markups, rebates, and contractual terms
Communicate findings clearly and professionally with team members and senior client stakeholders.
Lead workshops, working sessions, and day-to-day client interactions.
Work in a global, flexible model
Operate in a hybrid environment, balancing client, home, and office-based work.
Travel as required to support client delivery and team collaboration.
What you bring
Experience and skills
Strong experience in consulting, procurement, supply chain, or a related analytical role.
While Professional Services and External Labor will be a core focus, the role is expected to evolve over time into other service categories, and experience across adjacent categories will be viewed favorably.
Experience leading sourcing, category management, or supplier strategy work across Professional Services and External Labor categories.
Strong understanding of the commercial models commonly used by Big 4 firms, consulting firms, staffing suppliers, and other professional services providers, including rate cards, SOW-based pricing, retainers, markups, milestone-based fees, and panel structures.
Experience supporting project delivery and managing stakeholder engagement across workstreams.
Strong analytical capability and confidence working with data.
