Team Lead - Fire Protection Engineer
The Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Team Lead to join our Sydney Property & Buildings team. This leadership role will drive the delivery of major projects across commercial, health, education, defence, transport, mission critical and mixed-use sectors, while growing our fire protection capability and developing our people.
What You'll Do
- Lead fire protection design and documentation for major projects.
- Provide technical leadership from concept through construction.
- Mentor and develop engineers, graduates and designers.
- Manage project scope, quality, programme, risk and budgets.
- Review designs, reports and specifications for compliance and quality.
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Support business development, proposals and market engagement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across WSP.
- Contribute to team growth, resourcing and capability development.
- Champion innovation, safety in design and continuous improvement.
About You
You are an experienced fire protection engineer with strong leadership and client management skills. You'll bring:
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- 10+ years' experience in fire protection or building services.
- Expertise in wet and dry fire systems.
- Experience delivering major Australian building projects.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and fire codes.
- Proven project leadership and commercial management skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing technical staff.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Exposure to bids, proposals and business development.
- Familiarity with Revit MEP, Navisworks and BIM workflows.
- Consulting, contractor or D&C leadership experience.
