This study evaluates a novel, state-of-the-art postural control measurement device by comparing its performance against current industry standards.

Department Summary: Virginia Commonwealth University offers one of the premier Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs in the country. Located in the newly furnished College of Health Professions building, the program provides students with easy access to state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Clinical Research Coordinator will manage day-to-day operations for the study, including IRB regulatory compliance, participant recruitment and screening, human subject intake, data collection, and data analysis.

Note: This is a restricted position with grant funding guaranteed through September 4, 2027. Continued employment beyond this date is contingent upon securing additional funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • IRB & Regulatory Compliance: Assist the PI in maintaining and managing IRB submissions, protocol amendments, and continuing reviews. Ensure strict adherence to human subjects protection regulations, IRB-approved protocols, and VCU research compliance policies.
  • Participant Recruitment & Screening: Lead participant recruitment strategies, screen potential subjects for study eligibility, manage intake, and conduct informed consent procedures.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Execute clinical data collection protocols, maintain accurate documentation, and compile data for analysis (including quantitative data management in tools like MATLAB).
  • Study Operations: Serve as the primary point of contact for research participants and ensure all activities meet federal, state, and university regulatory standards

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a research environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex regulations, policies, and requirements.
  • Familiarity with research process and principles of research design.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis software.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with VCU colleagues, collaborators, research participants, and contacts necessary to effectively support research studies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of clinical research management duties from study initiation to close-out to include: regulatory, human subject's protection, study conduct, and data management requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data Tools: Proficiency in MATLAB for data analysis/processing and motion capture software.
  • Software: Competency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Research Experience: 3 + years prior experience with clinical research data collection, protocol execution, and human subject intake.
  • Certifications: Current CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) certification in Human Subjects Protection

Salary Range: $63,000 - $68,000/year
