What you'll be doing
This position is for a university graduate who wishes to pursue a career in Diagnostic Cytology. Responsible for undertaking a structured competency-based training program in non-gynaecological Cytology, while contributing to the day-to-day operations of the Cytology laboratory. The role combines practical laboratory experience, supervised scientific and technical training, and self-directed learning to develop the knowledge, skills and professional competencies required to achieve Australian Society of Cytology Certified Cytologist (CT(ASC)) qualification and support the delivery of high-quality diagnostic cytology services.

Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to Cytology/pathology from a recognised tertiary institution. Academic Transcript and Certificates to be provided with the application.
Demonstrated commitment to obtaining the Australian Society of Cytology Certified Cytologist (CT(ASC)) qualification and pursuing a specialist career in Diagnostic Cytology.
Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedure
Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner, manage competing priorities to meet deadlines, and demonstrate a high level of motivation and commitment to self-directed learning and professional development
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes and contribute to a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the laboratory
Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment
Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements

Current NSW CClass driver's licence (P1 or P2 accepted) is required. Interstate CClass licence holders must obtain an NSW CClass licence within three months of appointment. Learner licences are not accepted.
