We are seeking a motivated Intake Officer to join our team and contribute to the growth of the future genetic counselling workforce within NBMLHD.
This role, while administrative in nature, has been established as a pathway to a clinical role and is ideally suited to applicants currently undertaking tertiary studies in Genetic Counselling.
As a member of the Department of Clinical Genetics, you will provide general support to the clinical team and assist with various aspects of patient flow through the department under the supervision of genetic counsellors.

What you will bring to the role
- Good administrative experience, preferably in a tertiary healthcare setting, with demonstrated effective organisational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and high attention to detail.
- A degree in the relevant field, or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience
- Understanding of the services delivered by the department of Clinical Genetics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential with the ability to interact sensitively with patients and clinical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as well as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in data entry and record management.
- Demonstrated experience in information database management, with the ability to manage clinical data accurately and confidentially is essential (preferably with a Genetics information database).
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
