Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.
The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title (levels A to D) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Paediatrics and Child Health. The academic title will be held for the duration of The Children's Hospital at Westmead appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for clinical matters.
- Eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) in Chemical Pathology, or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatric Chemical Pathology, including experience with specialised biochemical investigations and the provision of laboratory services for paediatric patients.
- Demonstrated ability to provide expert clinical consultation, including the interpretation of complex biochemical findings and the provision of appropriate diagnostic and patient management advice.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and provide clinical leadership, fostering effective relationships with clinicians, scientists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and information technology skills, including the ability to communicate complex clinical and laboratory information effectively in written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of laboratory information systems and advanced data analytics, including high-level data mining, statistical analysis, and interpretation of laboratory data.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, clinical governance, and risk management, including participation in quality assurance and accreditation activities.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to attend the laboratory on site within a reasonable timeframe when required.
