Your New Role

In this role, you will act as the Line 2 subject matter expert for systems risk, supporting oversight of technology infrastructure, platforms, cloud services, networks, modern workplace platforms, enterprise service management (such as major incidents management), operational resilience, disaster recovery, and technology service providers.

You will work closely with Technology Risk Custodians, Domain Risk Officers, Business Risk Owners and senior technology leaders to ensure technology risks are appropriately identified, assessed, managed and reported.

You will support the continued uplift of technology risk management practices, helping embed the new Risk Taxonomy, strengthen governance forums, support regulator readiness and enhance risk reporting across critical technology services and operations.

Key duties include but not limited to;

  • Implement a Line 2 operating model to oversight Line 1 risk in the Technology, Digital and Data business unit.

  • Act as a senior Line 2 advisor and independent challenger for Systems Risk across Technology, Digital and Data.

  • Provide oversight of technology infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, service management capabilities and associated technology operations.

  • Review and challenge risk assessments, control assessments and treatment plans relating to Systems Risk.

  • Oversee risks relating to system availability, recoverability and resilience.

  • Provide independent challenge over major technology change initiatives and transformation programs.

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality risk reporting for management forums, executive committees and Board committees.

  • Build trusted relationships across Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3 stakeholders.

What You'll Need

  • Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.

  • Understanding of CPS 230 Operational Risk Management.

  • Tertiary qualification in Technology, Information Systems, Risk, Business, Commerce or related discipline.

  • 10+ years' experience in technology risk, operational risk, technology assurance, IT audit or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of technology risk management frameworks and practices.

  • Demonstrated experience across infrastructure, cloud, networks, service management or disaster recoveryExperience conducting risk assessments, control reviews, incident reviews and assurance activities.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities, with strong written communication skills and experience preparing executive and Board-level reporting.
