The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our Oceans & Environment team in our Brisbane or Cairns offices.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, renewable energy, transport, water and development projects across Queensland and Australia. You will collaborate with experienced environmental consultants and technical specialists to deliver environmental assessments, approvals and management solutions that help clients achieve successful project outcomes.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Preparing environmental assessments, technical reports and environmental management plans.
  • Assisting with environmental impact assessments and planning approval documentation.
  • Conducting environmental investigations, literature reviews and data analysis.
  • Supporting environmental approvals under Queensland and Commonwealth legislation.
  • Coordinating inputs from technical specialists and project stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Assisting with project planning, budgeting and delivery to meet client expectations.
  • Supporting proposal preparation and business development activities.
  • Ensuring work is delivered safely on time and to a high technical standard.

About You

You will be passionate about delivering practical environmental outcomes and enjoy working on a wide variety of projects in a collaborative consulting environment.

You will also bring:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in environmental consulting, government or a related industry.
  • Knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation and environmental assessment processes.
  • An understanding of the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes for clients.
  • A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to undertake occasional field work and travel as required.
