Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
- Experience within Compliance or related functions preferred- e.g. legal, internal audit, risk management
- Knowledge of financial services/products and related compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of legislative & regulatory requirements in Australia & New Zealand, including Consumer Credit laws, Fair Trading, Privacy preferred
- Aptitude for analysis, investigation & problem solving, including devising commercially-oriented compliance solutions
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to partner with business units & influence key stakeholders
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, standards and policies relevant to the business
- Pro-actively provide effective & timely Compliance advice to all lines of business, by analysing legislative & regulatory compliance requirements, and translating those requirements into efficient operational processes, policies & procedures
- From time to time, review & provide Compliance sign-off on advertising & marketing material, business proposals, policies & procedures, and other related documents
- Develop and implement effective Compliance monitoring programs to ensure compliance with legislative & regulatory requirements, as well as with internal American Express policies & procedures
- Conduct ongoing Compliance training
- Management & resolution of compliance gaps
- Co-ordinate, compile & maintain Compliance reports, inventories of obligations and records of Compliance activities
- Contribute to building a compliance culture by actively participating in awareness events, newsletters etc.
- Provide ongoing support in the management of the Compliance Programs such as AML, Privacy, DDO, Consumer Credit, Anti-Trust Practices, Anti-Corruption, including the development of policies & procedures, training programs, co-ordination of annual reporting and ongoing reporting (such as AML Reporting, Reportable Situations, Notifiable Data Breaches) requirements to the Regulator, and ongoing monitoring.
