LET'S EXPLORE THE ROLE

As a Repair Technician within our National Repair & Calibration Centre (NRCC), you'll play a key role in maintaining the reliability of equipment that supports critical communications services across Australia.

Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will undertake component-level repairs, fault finding, testing and asset management activities to ensure timely restoration of operational equipment. You'll also collaborate with field operations teams, contribute to technical problem solving, and support continuous improvement initiatives that help deliver exceptional service outcomes for our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electronics professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex faults and working with a wide range of broadcast and telecommunications technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform component-level diagnosis, repair and testing of electronic equipment.
• Complete advanced soldering and SMD repair activities to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate repair records, asset information, parts usage and labour data within asset management systems.
• Support field teams with troubleshooting, modifications, upgrades and repair activities remotely and on-site when required.
• Research and source alternatives for obsolete or unsupported components.
• Prepare reports on repair progress, asset movements, and issues impacting turnaround times.
• Assist with freight, logistics and equipment dispatch requirements.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure workshop and storage areas remain organised, safe and compliant.
• Participate in the Emergency Spares Dispatch roster.
• Contribute to a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE requirements.

You are a technically capable electronics repair professional with a passion for troubleshooting and restoring equipment to peak performance. You enjoy working in a structured environment, take pride in quality workmanship and can balance hands-on repairs with accurate documentation and asset tracking.

Technical Skills Required

• Extensive experience performing component-level electronic repairs using advanced soldering techniques.
• Strong capability in surface mount device (SMD) diagnostics and repair.
• Ability to analyse circuit and module functionality, including situations where schematic diagrams are unavailable.
• Practical expertise using electronic test and measurement equipment to diagnose and validate repairs.
• Exposure to broadcast transmission, communications or related electronic systems.
• Experience working with repair management, asset tracking or database systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate technical records.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex faults and identify practical repair solutions.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to successfully complete a Criminal History Check prior to commencement and annually thereafter.
• Ability to perform work within controlled environments where privileged access to critical systems is required.
