UGL's Utilities O&M business delivers critical maintenance services across electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. In Victoria, we partner with key clients including Powercor and AusNet, supporting overhead powerlines, fault response, outage works and network upgrades.
We're now looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead our Victorian operations through a strong period of growth while acting as a key leadership partner to the General Manager of the national Utilities O&M business.
Why this role
Lead a well-established operational structure supported by Team Leaders, Supervisors, Planners, Construction Managers, Delivery Managers and supporting functions including HSE, Finance, Commercial and HR.
Victorian field workforce consists of more than 50 Lineworkers and 35 Electricians.
Growth plans that will see this increase to more than 200 blue-collar personnel in Victoria.
Lead a $xxM electricity networks portfolio, with clear growth triple in size by 2029.
Victorian operational leader and 2IC to the General Manager.
Oversee and develop to become a leading service provider for state's three major electricity distribution networks.
About the role
The Senior Operations Manager will lead the delivery of electricity networks operations across Victoria, overseeing maintenance, construction, outages and upgrades. You'll lead an 80-strong workforce across metro and regional depots from Tullamarine, driving performance across Victoria's electricity distribution contracts.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role operates as the second-in-command across the Utilities O&M business, providing leadership across operational performance, client engagement, business growth and strategic initiatives.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for P&L, client performance and operational outcomes, with significant scope to influence the future direction of a business experiencing strong growth.
Key responsibilities
End-to-end delivery across maintenance, construction, outage and upgrade programs.
Lead an ~80-strong field workforce including lineworkers, electricians and supervisors.
Own full P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
Deliver against contract KPIs across our 3 key delivery programs.
Build strong client relationships while driving safety, performance and accountability.
Partner closely with the General Manager on strategic planning, operational improvement and growth initiatives.
Act as a key leadership figure across the broader Utilities O&M business.

About you
Experience operating at a senior leadership level, influencing business strategy and driving growth outcomes in electricity distribution, transmission or DNSP environments.
Strong leadership capability across blue-collar / field-based teams.
Proven experience managing contracts, KPIs and client relationships.
Demonstrated ownership of P&L and operational performance.
Ability to work as a trusted deputy and leadership partner to a General Manager.
