Lead, inspire and support students to thrive academically, emotionally and spiritually within our Secondary School community.



South Coast Baptist College (SCBC) is seeking expressions of interest from current SCBC teaching staff for the position of Head of Year, commencing January 2027.



This is an exciting leadership opportunity for educators who are passionate about student wellbeing and pastoral care. Working closely with the Deputy Heads of Secondary - Pastoral Care, you will provide leadership to a designated year group, fostering a safe, inclusive and Christ-centred environment where students are known, valued and encouraged to reach their God-given potential.


About the role

Working as a key member of the Secondary Student Wellbeing Team, you will:

  • Lead the pastoral care, wellbeing and discipline of a designated year group.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, staff and external support services.
  • Support students' spiritual, emotional, social and academic development.
  • Lead and mentor Homeroom Teachers within your year group.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Heads of Secondary - Pastoral Care to develop and deliver the Wellbeing and Protective Behaviours curriculum.
  • Monitor student attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, responding proactively to emerging concerns.
  • Promote restorative practices and contribute to a positive, respectful College culture.
  • Participate in camps, assemblies, House activities and other key College events.



This is apermanent position commencing 1 January 2027, with up to 0.4 FTE admin release in addition to a teaching load.
