As a Broadcast Technician, you'll play a vital role in keeping Australia's broadcast and communications infrastructure operating at peak performance. Working across transmission systems and associated infrastructure, you'll support the delivery of essential television, radio and critical communication services relied upon by communities nationwide.

This is a hands-on field role where you'll troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, commission new sites, and respond to service outages. You'll join a collaborative team of technical specialists committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement and customer service.

A vehicle and tools of the trade are provided. The role requires 20% travel (usually 1 week per month, sometimes two months) You will never be away over school holidays or Christmas. Trips are planned 3-6 months in advance, and you will travel in pairs for long trips. The run covers Broome WA, Kimberley WA, all of NT, NT Islands.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain broadcast transmission systems and associated infrastructure to meet operational and customer requirements.
• Diagnose and restore service outages, ensuring timely resolution and maximum network availability.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities to optimise equipment performance and reliability.
• Conduct proof-of-performance testing to verify compliance with operational and contractual standards.
• Repair and fault-find transmission and control equipment using module replacement and component-level repair techniques.
• Commission new sites and infrastructure on behalf of BAI and its customers.
• Participate in an on-call roster and respond to after-hours incidents when required.
• Effectively coordinate and supervise contractors working on-site.
• Complete work orders, fault reports and maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with BAI's health, safety and environmental requirements.

You're a technically capable and solutions-focused technician who enjoys working in the field and takes pride in maintaining essential communications infrastructure. You remain calm under pressure, approach problems methodically and are comfortable working independently while contributing to a high-performing team.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Experience maintaining transmission, broadcasting, telecommunications or RF communications equipment.
• Strong understanding of electronic systems, fault diagnosis and repair methodologies.
• Practical experience with transmission systems, control equipment and associated infrastructure.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance, performance testing, commissioning and service restoration activities.
• Knowledge of RF technologies and related operational environments.
• Familiarity with interpreting technical documentation, schematics and maintenance procedures.
• Experience using maintenance management systems, service tickets and work order platforms.
• Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Electrotechnology or a related discipline, or willingness to undertake equivalent on-the-job development.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Availability to participate in an on-call roster and travel as required.
