Expression of Interest - Track Lead
UGL is seeking an experienced Track Lead to join our Major Projects team on a Sunshine Coast Rail Project. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated rail professional to play a key role in the design & delivery of critical rail infrastructure, supporting the successful installation and commissioning of track systems within a large-scale transport project.
About the Role
As the Track Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all track construction activities, with a particular focus on slab track installation and yard installation. You will provide technical leadership, ensure works are completed safely and to specification, and manage project interfaces to achieve program, quality, and performance objectives.
Working closely with the rail system delivery manager, engineering, construction, and subcontractor teams, you will lead the planning and execution of track works while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all track installation activities across the project.
- Manage slab track & yard construction works, including procurement of materials ensuring compliance with project specifications and design requirements.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve project milestones.
- Monitor construction progress and implement solutions to address technical and operational challenges.
- Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Support the development of the project management plans, review and implement construction methodologies, work packs, and inspection and test plans.
- Liaise with engineering, project controls, and client representatives to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Support workforce planning, mentoring, and development of site personnel.
- Prepare and contribute to project reporting, risk assessments, and site meetings.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 10 years experience in the rail industry, with demonstrated experience in track construction and installation.
- Proven experience in slab track installation on major rail infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid understanding of rail construction methodologies, quality requirements, and industry standards.
- Experience working within large-scale infrastructure or transport projects.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
