What you'll do:
We're seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Brisbane-based Mining team. This is an opportunity to take a leading role in complex brownfield and greenfield mining projects while helping shape the future of our electrical engineering capability across Queensland and beyond.
You'll combine technical excellence with client leadership, project delivery and team development, working alongside a multidisciplinary group of engineers supporting major mining and resource clients throughout Australia. WSP's Mining team includes established electrical and controls engineering capability as part of its wider mine infrastructure engineering offering.
Lead electrical engineering design and delivery for mining and resource sector projects.
Provide technical leadership across power distribution, substations, MCCs, HV/LV systems and associated infrastructure.
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
Take ownership of project scope, deliverables, quality, schedule and technical outcomes.
Lead electrical studies, design reviews, calculations and technical assurance activities.
Support business development activities, proposals and client engagement.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams across Australia.
Review and approve engineering documentation, specifications and technical reports.
Identify and manage project risks while driving practical, value-focused solutions.
Contribute to the continued growth and capability development of the Mining team.
About you:
You will be a proven engineering leader who enjoys both technical problem-solving and building long-term client relationships.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
RPEQ registration, or eligibility to obtain registration.
Significant experience delivering mining, minerals processing, resources or heavy industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of Australian electrical design standards and industry best practice.
Experience with power systems, HV/LV infrastructure and industrial electrical design.
Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong client management and business development capability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience mentoring and developing technical professionals.
A collaborative approach and passion for delivering exceptional client outcomes.
