What you'll do:
At WSP, we're shaping the future of mining infrastructure across Australia. As demand for structural integrity, asset management, remediation, and brownfield engineering services continues to grow, we're looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Queensland Mining team in Townsville.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong structural engineer who enjoys balancing detailed engineering design with field-based structural integrity and asset assessment work. You'll work across a diverse portfolio of mining and heavy industrial projects while helping drive the growth of WSP's structural integrity capability throughout Queensland.
Lead structural engineering and structural integrity projects across mining and heavy industrial assets.
Deliver structural inspections, integrity assessments, condition evaluations, and remediation recommendations.
Undertake concept, detailed, and brownfield design of mining infrastructure and processing facilities.
Provide technical leadership for steel and concrete structures, materials handling systems, and fixed plant infrastructure.
Develop remediation strategies and life extension solutions for ageing assets.
Build strong relationships with mining clients across Queensland and identify opportunities for continued growth.
Support proposals, business development activities, and strategic client engagement.
Mentor and develop structural engineers across the team.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
About you:
We're interested in experienced engineers who bring a combination of technical expertise, consulting capability, and commercial awareness.
You'll likely have:
Degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
RPEQ or eligibility to obtain RPEQ registration.
Extensive experience within mining, resources, heavy industry, or asset-intensive environments.
Strong background in structural engineering design of steel and concrete structures.
Experience undertaking structural inspections, integrity assessments, and remedial engineering.
Knowledge of Australian structural design standards.
Experience working directly with operational mining assets and brownfield environments.
Strong client engagement and business development skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
A passion for mentoring and developing technical teams.
