Senior Sleep Technician | FMC Sleep Laboratory
Flinders Medical Centre is seeking an experienced Senior Sleep Technician to join the Sleep Laboratory on a casual basis, providing skilled cover across afternoon and night shifts Monday to Thursday. You'll bring established competency in polysomnography and sleep study protocols, working with a well-resourced team inside one of South Australia's leading tertiary health facilities.
About the role:
Reporting to the Sleep Lab Manager, this role is responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies on patients and prepares reports on these studies to contribute to optimum patient treatment. Senior Sleep Technologists assist in staff training and assessment and provide advanced support for research projects.
Duties for the role will include:
- Produce high quality physiological recordings using a range of monitoring equipment,
- Performance of both clinical and research sleep data of all sleep study types,
- Performs analysis and report writing of both clinical and research sleep data,
- Provide technical support to treatment programs, such as long-term nocturnal ventilation,
- Co-ordinate quality assurance testing and exercises where required,
- Train new staff in sleep analysis and laboratory procedures,
- Co-ordinate quality assurance testing and exercises where required
About you:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in the field of physiology, psychology, neuroscience or nursing,
- Able to apply logical problem solving to equipment malfunctions or non-standard test conditions,
- Able to learn and develop new skills in the collection and analyses of physiological data,
- Able to work independently and unsupervised when required,
- Able to communicate effectively with Clients referred for diagnostic or therapeutic monitoring,
- Experience in the use of physiological monitors,
- Experience in the monitoring and detailed analysis of polysomnographic recordings
