Your Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Designer to join our Perth team, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across various commodities (including gold, lithium, rare earths). This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from studies and detailed design through to construction support and commissioning.
This role will be based at our new Head Office on St Georges Tce, Perth. Adjacent to the train station, the City office has state of the art end of journey facilities, including secure storage for bicycles and scooters, a gym, tennis court, basketball hoop and a swimming pool available for all Primero employees.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical plant concept, layouts, equipment arrangements, cable routing and installation drawings in coordination with other engineering disciplines using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Coordinate electrical design within the project 3D model and participate in multidisciplinary model reviews to achieve clash-free and constructible designs.
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate designers, promoting technical excellence and consistency across project deliverables.
- Lead internal electrical design reviews and contribute to project design review workshops throughout the design lifecycle.
- Ensure the technical quality and consistency of electrical design deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction and commissioning by responding to technical queries and reviewing design changes.
- Manage and provide technical leadership and support to the project team to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, standards, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the project team, clients and to other project stakeholders.
- Produce discipline specific deliverables that meet Primero Groups, the client's and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver high-quality electrical design documentation in accordance with project schedule, budget and quality objectives.
- Review and provide feedback on vendor drawings and interdisciplinary design data.
What You 'Can Do'
- 10+years experience as an Electrical Designer in multidisciplinary 3D design/model review environments.
- Electrical and instrumentation design experience of industrial plants, refineries, or infrastructure in the mining/minerals processing or oil and gas industries.
- Previous experience leading project specific electrical design packages
- Demonstrated experience checking and approving electrical design deliverables in accordance with project quality requirements.
- Understanding of statutory and industry regulations and HSE practices.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, MEL, General Arrangement drawings and vendor documentation.
- Knowledge and practical application of design theories, principles and practices.
- The ability to work efficiently and effectively within a multi-discipline team environment.
- Keen eye for detail and a systematic approach to producing deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
