As a Senior Platform Owner of our Identity & Access Management (IAM) team, you will be the senior technical specialist responsible for NSW Health's One Identity Manager platform. This is a hand-on technical leadership role for someone who understands One Identity inside an out and can personally lead the design, configuration and implementation of platform changes. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding NSW Health's Identity ecosystem. The IAM team supports secure access for more than 200,000 workforce members and citizens, underpinning safe clinical care, workforce mobility, cyber uplift and compliance with state and national security frameworks.
Within this environment, you will be the accountable owner of the One Identity platform, ensuring it remains secure, resilient, scalable, and fit for an enterprise as large and complex as NSW Health. You will lead the platform's lifecycle; its strategy, roadmap, technical direction and standards, while driving modernisation, reducing risk, and enabling identity services to be safely consumed at scale.
In this role, you will:
- Own and maintain the One Identity platform, ensuring it remains secure, stable, scalable and fit for purpose. Personally lead and deliver platform changes, including workflow configuration, process design, scripting, schema modifications, templates, policies, approval workflows and system integrations.
- Design, build and maintain identity lifecycle capabilities, including provisioning, deprovisioning, access requests, certifications and governance processes. Develop and maintain customisations and automation using One Identity Manager tools, APIs, scripting and integration technologies.
- Lead platform upgrades, migrations and remediation activities, ensuring minimal business disruption and maintaining platform integrity.
- Investigate and resolve complex platform issues, acting as the highest level of technical escalation point for platform-wide technical issues, risks and complex design decisions.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, reducing manual effort, increasing automation and improving service outcomes. Review technical designs and implementations, promoting best practices, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team.
- Collaborate with Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, infrastructure teams, application owners and vendors to implement secure and compliant identity solutions.
- Oversee platform delivery and alignment, partnering with the Senior Product Owner to ensure cohesive identity services collaborating with team members to deliver outcomes that meet agreed goals, timelines, quality standards and operational requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to junior platform engineers and team members, building capability across identity governance, platform configuration, scripting, integrations and operational support.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, documentation and implementation patterns to support consistent and sustainable platform delivery.
- Drive platform modernisation, reducing technical debt and addressing enterprise risk.
Internally referred to as Senior Platform Owner. Please view the position description here.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Brings extensive hands-on experience administering, configuring and developing solutions within One Identity Manager. Experience developing custom One Identity Manager processes, templates, scripts, reports and object layer customisations.
- Can demonstrate experience implementing and supporting complex One Identity workflows, processes, custom scripts, schemas, templates, connectors and integrations.
- Has deep expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) principles, and possesses strong technical knowledge of identity lifecycle management, provisioning, reconciliation, RBAC, access requests, attestation and governance processes.
- Has significant experience integrating enterprise applications with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), LDAP directories, databases, APIs and other identity sources.
- Is capable of analysing business requirements and translating them into practical technical solutions within the One Identity platform and demonstrates strong technical leadership while remaining hands-on and actively involved in platform implementation and support activities.
- Has strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex platform issues in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Has experience coaching and mentoring junior engineers, helping build team capability and technical maturity.
- Can confidently engage with stakeholders, architects, engineers and vendors to deliver successful outcomes.
- Experience with PowerShell, VB.NET, SQL Server, REST APIs and automation technologies.
Desirable
- Experience implementing or supporting large-scale Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platforms and working within large, complex and highly regulated environments such as healthcare, government or critical infrastructure.
- Experience working with Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- One Identity certifications, Microsoft, Cyber Security or Enterprise Architecture certifications and other relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP or Identity and Access Management certifications will be highly regarded.
