• Neurosurgery patients requiring complex post-operative care.
• Acute Stroke patients receiving thrombolysis and advanced endovascular clot retrieval treatments
• Endovascular Clot Retrieval (ECR) - Time Critical Referrals from all over Australia in the World leading Acute Stroke Unit.
• Major Trauma patients with neurological injuries requiring specialised nursing management.
• Patients with seizure disorders, brain injuries, spinal conditions and other complex neurological presentations
• Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you'll be supported by experienced Neuroscience Nurses, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nurse Educators, Neurologists and Neurosurgeons dedicated to helping you grow your expertise.

About the Role

The Neurosciences ward at RPAH offers a valuable working opportunity to be supported by experienced neuroscience nurses as well as Neurology and Neurosurgery Clinical Nurse Consultants. You will have the opportunity for career progression with education in acute stroke training and the ability to work in the acute stroke unit caring for thrombolysed and endovascular clot retrieval patients. On this ward you will also have the opportunity to be tracheostomy trained with the guidance of the clinical nurse educator and senior allied health team members.

You will also be guided in training of seizure management, lumbar drains, post operative neurosurgery patients and several complex neurological conditions. You will be supported in joining quality improvement projects throughout the ward aiming to improve our patient and staff experience on the ward. The neurosciences ward offers a fast paced and exciting environment for nurses to join an excellent and highly skilled team focused on providing high quality patient care.

Ideal Candidate

• Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
• Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
• Applicants must have demonstrated experience working within a hospital setting.
• Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster.
