Help grow Abt's Australian Domestic Programs business

Join Abt Global Australia and help shape work that improves lives. Our Australian Domestic Programs team partners with the Australian Government, state and local governments, health services, non-government organisations and community organisations to design, deliver and evaluate programs across health, human services, equity and community wellbeing.

We are looking for a commercially minded Business Development Specialist to help grow our Australian Domestic Programs portfolio. This role is responsible for identifying, capturing and securing new business opportunities across the Australian domestic market.

You will help shape where we grow next by identifying emerging opportunities, developing capture strategies, building trusted client relationships and turning market intelligence into winning tenders and grant submissions. Every opportunity you help secure contributes to programs that create lasting impact for Australian communities.

What you will do

Working closely with the Head of Domestic Programs, you will:

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across the Australian domestic market.
  • Build trusted relationships with Australian Government, state and local government agencies, clients, partners and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor policy, funding, procurement and market trends to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Develop capture plans and manage the domestic business development pipeline.
  • Coordinate and contribute to high-quality tenders, grant applications and proposals.
  • Help position Abt for sustainable growth across our Australian Domestic Programs portfolio.

About you

You are commercially minded, curious and proactive. You enjoy identifying opportunities before they reach the market, building trusted relationships and working collaboratively with technical experts to develop compelling proposals that respond to client needs.

You are motivated by meaningful work and want to play an active role in growing a business that delivers positive outcomes for communities across Australia.

What you will bring

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in business development, market analysis, opportunity identification, capture planning and pipeline management.
  • Proven ability to identify, qualify and progress new business opportunities.
  • Experience developing capture strategies and preparing high-quality tenders, grant applications or consulting proposals.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, partners and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, persuasive and client-focused proposals and submissions.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing business opportunities for Australian Government, health, human services or community sector clients, or within a professional services or consulting environment.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Australian Government procurement, funding and grant environments.
  • Experience conducting market research, competitor analysis or stakeholder mapping to support business development.
  • Experience using CRM systems, tender portals or business development pipeline management tools.

If your experience is transferable and you're excited by this opportunity, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every desirable criterion.

Why join Abt?

At Abt, you will do work that matters.

You will join a collaborative team where your ideas are valued, leaders trust and support you to do your best work, and you will have the flexibility to thrive while helping improve the lives of communities across Australia.

This is an opportunity to help build and shape a growing Australian Domestic Programs business. You will have the opportunity to influence the opportunities we pursue, our capture approach and how we position Abt in the Australian domestic market.

We offer:

  • Meaningful, purpose-driven work that improves lives.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunities to learn from recognised experts and continue developing your career.
  • A collaborative, respectful and inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
  • The opportunity to contribute directly to the growth and success of our Australian Domestic Programs portfolio.
