Engineering Experience, Reuse & Intelligence Lead

Westpac Group
Melbourne, VIC, Australia Full Time
Reference: 218_467287_70824

Create your best future as an Engineering Experience, Reuse & Intelligence Lead!
What's the role?

Reporting to the Group Head of Engineering, the Engineering Experience, Reuse & Intelligence Lead will play a pivotal role in establishing and scaling Westpac's Engineering Practice. You'll help shape how engineers discover knowledge, adopt standards, share reusable assets, contribute improvements and learn from one another across the organisation. Working across Engineering, Delivery Units, platform teams, engineering leaders, communities of practice and strategic partners, you'll create the mechanisms that make engineering knowledge, guidance, tooling and insight accessible, discoverable and valuable.
This role is about creating the foundations that enable engineering teams to collaborate more effectively, reduce duplication, accelerate delivery and continuously improve the way engineering is done across Westpac.

Key responsibilities include:

Transform the Engineering Experience

  • Create a seamless, self-service engineering experience that makes standards, guidance, tooling and support easy to discover and use.
  • Improve onboarding and day-one productivity by simplifying how engineers access learning, reusable assets and contribution pathways.
  • Reduce friction across the engineering ecosystem by connecting platforms, communities and Practice services into a consistent experience.

Drive Reuse and Contribution at Scale

  • Establish mechanisms that make reusable patterns, playbooks, templates and engineering assets easy to discover, adopt and share.
  • Foster a culture of contribution and inner-source by enabling engineers and Delivery Units to share proven practices and solutions.
  • Partner across Engineering Practice and platform teams to scale reuse and amplify engineering excellence across Westpac.

Build Engineering Intelligence and Insight

  • Develop meaningful insights using engineering metrics, practitioner feedback and adoption signals to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Translate engineering data into actionable recommendations that improve developer experience, productivity and engineering outcomes.
  • Establish feedback loops that continuously improve Engineering Practice services without creating unnecessary reporting burden.

Connect the Engineering Ecosystem

  • Align standards, learning, governance, enablement and community initiatives into a cohesive engineer experience.
  • Partner with Engineering Practice leaders to maximise adoption, impact and reuse across Delivery Units.
  • Reduce duplication by connecting related initiatives and embedding discoverability, usability and contribution into Practice outputs.

Influence Across the Enterprise

  • Build trusted relationships with engineering leaders, platform teams and technical communities to drive meaningful change.
  • Act as a trusted adviser on engineering experience, reuse, contribution and engineering intelligence across the organisation.
  • Create alignment across diverse stakeholder groups to improve engineering outcomes through influence rather than authority.
