Pinaka Technology Solutions brings this opportunity to you via a prime contractor to Defence.
We are seeking an advanced Radar Systems Engineer with substantial HF and microwave radar experience to support the development and integration of complex sensing capabilities within a joint Defence environment.
The successful candidate will act as a technical subject-matter expert across radar systems, sensor integration, interoperability, systems engineering and capability development. The role requires approximately six years of relevant experience and the ability to work autonomously within a small, high-performing project team.
Key responsibilities
- Support capability and concept development for HF and microwave radar systems.
- Conduct requirements analysis for radar, sensing and command-and-control capabilities.
- Support the integration of sensors into broader Defence architectures.
- Provide specialist radar systems and engineering advice.
- Undertake technical assessments, design reviews and trade studies.
- Develop configuration-controlled interface definitions and systems-engineering artefacts.
- Analyse and support multi-domain sensing, sensor networking and track correlation.
- Support radar-system certification, testing, deployment and sustainment.
- Develop concepts of employment, interface-control documentation, system architectures and technical specifications.
- Support secure sensor integration, cryptologic considerations, encryption-key distribution and cyber requirements.
- Analyse interference, spoofing and jamming risks affecting positioning, navigation and timing.
- Recommend anti-spoofing, anti-jamming and alternative timing or positioning solutions.
- Participate in working groups, configuration-control boards and technical forums.
- Facilitate and document stakeholder workshops.
- Support requirements development, capability-gap analysis, schedule assessments and interoperability evaluations.
- Liaise with original equipment manufacturers, integrators and subcontractors.
- Support commissioning, acceptance and operational handover.
- Prepare technical reports, briefs and decision-support material for senior stakeholders.
Essential requirements
- Approximately six years of demonstrated experience with HF and microwave radar systems.
- Relevant technical and project-management qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience developing Defence capability documents and artefacts within the ADF Capability Framework.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering, sensor integration and capability development.
- Recent experience engaging with Defence capability, force-design, force-integration or science and technology stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and emerging project environment.
- A collaborative, agile and innovative approach to technical problem-solving.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior military and civilian stakeholders.
- Australian citizenship.
- A current NV1 security clearance or higher.
- At least 12 months remaining on the security clearance at commencement.
- Availability to support the required onsite working arrangements.
Highly regarded
- Current NV2 or TSPV security clearance.
- Experience with sensor signal processing.
- Transmitter and receiver design experience.
- Knowledge of antenna systems and radio-frequency propagation.
- Experience with electro-optical or infrared sensors.
- Understanding of electromagnetic compatibility.
- Hands-on experience with Defence communications and Tactical Data Links.
- Experience integrating sensors and Global Navigation Satellite Systems.
- Experience supporting air-defence, integrated air and missile defence or air-surveillance programs.
- Knowledge of over-the-horizon radar systems.
Location clarification
The RFQ identifies the primary workplace as Russell Offices in Canberra. It also states that candidates may be located in Canberra, Adelaide or the surrounding areas. Any Adelaide-based arrangement would therefore need to be confirmed with the client.
